The war in Afghanistan started 19 years ago today.
John Reid said that not a shot would be fired, and Jack Straw told the House of Commons that it would be over by Christmas. In all fairness, he did not say which Christmas.
The Americans are still there. Meaning that this war is now being fought by people who were not born when it started.
