A full national lockdown would be one thing. But we will not stand for different rules for us than for at least as densely populated parts of the South, especially London, where the figures are clearly being fiddled. Is there anything of which the North of England has precisely 13? That would do for the stars of the Stainless Banner, turned black to represent the coal of which we still had vast reserves.
"This time. Maybe this time with all this much to lose than all this much to gain: Pennsylvania, Maryland, the world, the golden dome of Washington itself to crown with desperate and unbelievable victory the desperate gamble, the cast made two years ago; or to anyone who ever sailed a skiff under a quilt sail, the moment in 1492 when somebody thought This is it: the absolute edge of no return, to turn back now and make home or sail irrevocably on and either find land or plunge over the world's roaring rim."
People in 1492 did not in fact believe that the world had a rim, but let that pass for now. For the golden dome of Washington itself, substitute the dome of Saint Paul's Cathedral, right there in the City of London. York Minster stands on the spot where Constantine the Great was proclaimed Emperor of Rome, so there shall we make our Declaration of Independence, and there shall we constitute our Confederacy, before repairing to Durham to conduct our business at the fabulous Miners' Hall, our Capitol. See you there.
