Clearly, the knives are out for Richard Leonard. But in order to replace him with whom, exactly? Whoever it was will be Scottish Labour's tenth Leader in 21 years. Yet there are only about 10 people left in the Labour Party in Scotland. The only reason to vote Labour for Holyrood would be if it were best placed to defeat the SNP in that constituency. Vote for whoever was in that position, and vote for the Alliance for Unity on the list.
Throughout the United Kingdom, however, vote for whoever was best placed to defeat Labour in each local council ward. The Labour Right is unique in that, by almost or almost always controlling the great majority of the most populous municipalities in England and Wales, plus what is now the Welsh Parliament, it has an independent fiscal base. That now needs to be destroyed, thereby destroying the Labour Right.
No more Council Tax. No more business rates. No more pension schemes looking to invest. No more sweeteners and backhanders from property developers and others. No more allocation of jobs with the council, and of better council housing, and of any council housing. Bring the whole edifice crashing down.
How's the community service going?
ReplyDeleteThey knocked an hour off just for my having graciously taken the call to tell me that it would not be running until further notice, and in any case they still say that I am medically unfit for every form of it.
