There has been righteous anger that secret targets for conviction have led to a reduction in the number of rape cases prosecuted, with only the easiest to convict brought to court.
Much the same argument is used about drugs, and especially about cannabis: make it legal, and by definition there would be less crime. Well, make rape legal, and by definition there would be less crime, but that is not an argument for doing so.
Most recently on the reality of cannabis, see here. It will be entirely lost on most British politicians. Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it.
