Shadowy No More?

Tackling low pay, huge investment in transport and other infrastructure, and a hint at the need to take back democratic political control of monetary policy. That was Sajid Javid's pitch for the future Leadership of the Conservative Party, and it went down a storm.

There is plenty wrong with Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell, but they have changed the weather of British politics. McDonnell's immediate predecessor as Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer was Chris Leslie. Just give that a moment to sink in.

Alas, most Labour MPs would still prefer someone like that. Almost all Conservative MP, and all Liberal Democrat ones, will have been horrified even at Javid's modest proposals yesterday, and will be hoping, not without cause, that this kind of thing was just electioneering.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. A new party is now in the process of registration. After nearly 30 years of suggestion, speculation, and even a sort of preparation, I will stand for Parliament here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
