Draw From The Wells

I do not know whether Iran directly bombed the money wells of terrorism on the streets of Britain, or whether Iran's Houthi allies did so. But I am shedding no tear that someone did.

Now, be in no doubt that there is a great deal wrong with the regime in Iran. But it does not inspire, direct or fund terrorist attacks in my country. That is Saudi Arabia. Iran does, however, detain my fellow-citizens unjustly, the most notable example being that of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. Her treatment has been condemned by the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.

The thing is, so has the treatment of Julian Assange. The Iranians should undertake to free Zaghari-Ratcliffe when Britain freed Assange, whose only supporter in the House of Commons is Chris Williamson. No other MP, not a single one, is supporting a man whose arbitrary detention in this country has been condemned by the UN.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. A new party is now in the process of registration. After nearly 30 years of suggestion, speculation, and even a sort of preparation, I will stand for Parliament here at North West Durham. The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
