All of a Peace?

What is this "peace" that the nuclear "deterrent", or NATO, or the EU, is supposed to have kept?

This country has been at war for most of my adult lifetime.

And I am older than John Woodcock.

  1. I know it's not your main point, but John is pretty unlikely to contest the 2020 Election.

Something more lucrative will come up that doesn't involve pretending to support Labour as it will be by then.Old Chairs of Labour Friends of Israel will never starve, especially if they are also close to the nukes industry.

Good to see you in Chad's for the Reverend Principal's funeral. Will there be a London memorial service? Might see you again there.

    1. We should probably all find out at the same time and by the same electronic means. Such is the way of the world these days.

But I expect so, and I'll be there if at all possible. I must find out how College is coping. The funeral certainly showed it to be in very good health.

To bring things back on topic, Joe's voice will be missed in the Trident debate. He would really have given them what for.

  2. As you have repeatedly pointed out, Mr. L., although we knew Iraq had no nukes, nevertheless Iraq's nukes were the stated reason for invading.

We had nukes in 1982 and a non-nuclear state still invaded our territory. It wasn't deterred by them before the invasion and we didn't use them after the invasion. Meaning it's not hypothetical we never would, it is an established fact.

    1. And has been for most of my entire lifetime.

Of academic interest though it is now, it has been an established fact since her first term that even Margaret Thatcher would never have used nuclear weapons under any circumstances.

She could have done. By her and their supporters' logic, she should have done. But she didn't.

Thank you very much indeed for this.
