Emergency Stop

Top Gear would never work on commercial television, because so much of it would be criticism of the products to be advertised during the breaks. Only the BBC could ever make it.

But even if that were not true, neither ITV nor Sky would be likely to take on a man who had concluded a catalogue of such incidents with a conviction for racially aggravated assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

Even Nigel Farage, who, being younger than Jeremy Clarkson, quite conceivably has his eye on presenting Top Gear once the General Election is out of the way, has expressed his lack of sympathy.

Well, of course he has. Clarkson is David Cameron's mate, not Farage's. Clarkson is a donor to, and a newspaper columnist in support of, not UKIP, but the Conservative Party.
