To no one's surprise, the Today programme turned to the ghastly Brook operation for "discussion" of the criminal behaviour that is the fitting of contraceptive implants to underage girls.
In February 1980, Helen Brook wrote in The Times that, "From birth till death it is now the privilege of the parental State to take major decisions - objective, unemotional, the State weighs up what is best for the child."
In 1995, she was given the CBE. The Conservative Party was not at that time in coalition with the Lib Dems or anyone else.
Nor, it must be said, did its parliamentary ranks include Nadine Dorries, the BBC's go-to figure in order to ensure that fulsomely pro-life and pro-family views are denied a hearing. This morning, she informed us that "Brook does a great job".
