That’s “the Right”, is it? That’s “proper Toryism”? Bought and paid for advocacy for the American neocons (Trots) and the Israeli Far Right (guardians of the memory of pro-Soviet terrorists), with British interests coming third or nowhere? We had quite enough of that under Tony Blair. The fewer such traitors on either front bench these days, the better.
This is not the only policy area in which the Coalition is obviously in the pocket of the people who have taken over the American Republican Party. No one who knew anything about it would have voted for a foreign and defence policy dictated by George Bush throwbacks and Avigdor Lieberman acolytes. But no one at all would vote for a health policy dictated by the American corporate healthcare sector.
Accordingly, no such policy appeared in either the Conservative or the Lib Dem manifesto, nor in the Coalition Agreement. Yet that is what we are to have, and the Murdoch and ex-Black media are in full cry for the Leadership of the Labour Party to pass to the man who ran Tony Blair’s Policy Unit when it was forever sending suggestions of that kind to be rejected by Gordon Brown.
I wonder why...?
