A Change of PACE?

Of course one does not want the Police to be able to keep people on bail for years on end. But the knives are now out for Thatcher's Police and Criminal Evidence Act.

The return of proper preventative policing is, with the return of proper minimum standards for conviction, the necessary condition for the urgently necessary restoration both of proper sentencing and of proper prison regimes.

And after Thatcher's PACE, how about, shall we say, a reappraisal of Thatcher's Single European Act, of Thatcher's Anglo-Irish Agreement, of Thatcher's replacement of O-levels with GCSEs, of Thatcher's Children Act, of Thatcher's destruction of the stockades of working-class male employment, of Thatcher's "great car economy", and of so very, very, very much else besides?
