Further to yesterday's Thought for the Day, unlike Lord Harries I loathe the Jerusalem Bible's transformation of the Beatitudes into the Happytudes, therefore to be endured on All Saints Day.
We are happy, in the full sense achieved by the recapitulation in Christ both of the Hebrew and of the Hellenic traditions, because we are blessed in the ways and for the reasons given by Jesus. We are not blessed because we are happy.
One to consider in the present debate.
The wellbeing debate? Or the liturgical reform of the reform debate?
