Defensively Speaking

The "English Defence League" is setting up special cadres for Jews and for the homosexually inclined who somehow imagine that inclination to be an economic, social, cultural or political identity. The former seem decidedly unlikely to join it, for about as many reasons as one could possibly imagine. But the latter? It does seem more than a little improbable. However, that the suggestion is being made reminds us that Geert Wilders and the late Pim Fortuyn are not without their equivalents in this country. As in the Netherlands, so also here, their real targets, even if there were no Muslims, would be and are anyone who takes either Catholicism or classical Protestantism seriously.
