Shame on the Liberals for ever having been led by Turnbull, leader of the anti-monarchists in the referendum of yesteryear. But at least he is gone.
So, for all Rudd's recent expression of monarchism in his good wishes to the Australian Monarchist League's Conference, even more shame on Labor for letting the old WASP party, rather than the old Irish Catholic one, be led by a traditional Catholic who believes in high-wage, high-skilled, high-status jobs for the working class; in that economic basis (which, ultimately, only the State can guarantee) of paternal authority in the family and in the wider community; in travel opportunities for the masses; in universal access to a full diet; and in the economic development of the poorer parts of the world.
