Last night, the Swanley St Mary's Ward of Sevenoaks District Council returned the following by-election result:
BNP - 41% (+41)
Lab - 34% (-21)
Con - 25% (-)
A BNP gain from Labour, with UKIP not standing, having previously secured twenty per cent.
Half of UKIP's vote at the last European Elections came from disaffected Labour voters who have been disenfranchised by the disappearance of the patriotic, social democratic, morally and socially conservative party that they knew, and its replacement by Harriet "Paedophile Information Exchange" Harman, Tony "IRA Fundraiser" McNulty, et al.
UKIP's star turn was a former Labour MP, and combining its and the Tories' vote in the North, the Midlands or London gives a ludicrously high figure for the number of natural Tories living there.
Its failure to keep those voters, including that former MP, is the reason why it can no longer fight a ward such as Swanley St Mary's. But the people there, and in so many other traditional Labour wards around the country, still want an alternative to New Labour.
Note that unchanged Tory figure: these are people who would never vote Tory in a million years. But then, as patriots and as moral and social conservatives, why would they ever have done so?
So the void is being filled.
By the BNP.
C2 support for the Tories has gone down in the last year.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think we all know to where, if anywhere.
ReplyDeleteAre they all racists? No. Are they all thugs? No. Are they all Holocaust-deniers? No.
But no one, absolutely no one, is speaking for them on any issue whatever.
That really includes the BNP. But at least it pretends to be interested.
Thus are people being drawn into racism, thuggery, and Holocaust denial.
If only there was a party that could stand up to them. Like the BPA, say.
ReplyDeleteWhatever happened to them?
"Natural Tories"? What are they?
ReplyDeleteFar busier now that we have changed tactics, lima.
ReplyDeleteWho indeed, Sonsele? Who, indeed?
See also, all from last night:
ReplyDeleteDownham, London Borough of Lewisham
Lib Dem - 40% (-11)
Lab - 24% (-2)
Con - 24% (+8)
BNP 11% (+11)
Green - 2% (-5)
Two Lib Dem holds
Bilton, Harrogate borough council
LD - 50% (-2)
Con - 38% (-7)
BNP - 9% (+9)
Lab - 3% (-)
Lib Dem hold
Thringstone, North West Leicestershire district council
Lab - 36% (-7)
Con - 31% (-1)
BNP - 28% (+28)
Lib Dem - 5% (-20)
Lab hold
That first one has the Lib Dems losing exactly as many as the BNP picked up from a standing start.
They are going to third in numerous seats and second in quite a few.
ReplyDeleteWhich is exactly what the Political Class wants, of course. Not only would it confirm all their prejudices about the white working class, but it would make it even easier to write of great swathes of public concern as "pandering to the BNP".
I am seriously beginning to think that the BNP is a stooge.
you can't have it both ways. Either your new model is now right for influenting candidates- at which point why did you ever set up the BPA? Or having your own candidates is a better way to fight the BNP - in which case why aren't you still doing that?
ReplyDeleteDidn't you used to say that if you want to stop things, you can't vote for another party, you need to stand up and do it yourself? So why do people not have an option now through the BPA? All your talk about wanting to stop the BNP is for naught now.
ReplyDeleteAnd I bet you won't publish this either...
If this is all a plot by the political class, why isn't the BPA mobilising to stop them?
ReplyDelete"you can't have it both ways. Either your new model is now right for influenting candidates"
ReplyDeleteYes. That's not "both ways". That's one way.
"Didn't you used to say that if you want to stop things, you can't vote for another party, you need to stand up and do it yourself?"
And in some seats, that will still be necessary. Including this one, by the look of things.
Spres, we are. Why aren't you on board?
On board with what? I want to support a candidate I believe in. Not someone who stands under someone else's colours who you endorse.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't read my post properly. If choosing and influencing (other parties') candidates is the right thing to do, why did you go to all the time, effort and expense of settin up the BPA and recrutiing canddiates yourself?
ReplyDeleteBusy doing what though? Not standing against the BNP anymore, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteThey are not false colours. How does being a morally and socially conservative British and Commonwealth patriot in the economic tradition that has come down from the conservatives Colbert and Bismarck via the Liberals Keynes and Beveridge through the Atlee Government make either red, or blue, or yellow a false colour?
ReplyDeleteIt is those of whom this cannot be said who are at least arguably using those colours dishonestly and deceitfully, above all in the red case, though also in the blue and yellow ones.
Lima and Noon, what contribution did you ever make to the life of the BPA while it was a registered political party?
ReplyDeleteNot sure if my last comment got through? I just said that not only did I join the party, but I went on a couple of marches and helped the local Bristol office get set up.
ReplyDeleteThere has never been a Bristol office.
ReplyDeleteSo your real answer to my question is "Nothing".
There is a local Bristol office: I established it and it's still going. We at least will be putting up candidates in all local constituencies at the election, whenever it comes.
ReplyDeleteWell, it was never anything to do with the BPA. And now, it never will be.
