Laid Back

Abortion at home because that is more "laid back", we are told. Any other suggestions as to what might be so treated?

  1. Most things, where possible. If you can safely provide medical treatment at home, then patients are likely to respond better to it there than they would in hospital.

  2. Abortion is not medical treatment. And what could you possibly mean by "respond well" to an abortion?

  3. 1) Yes it is.

    2) The procedure goes well, with no complications.

    3) It's almost as if you didn't really want an answer to your question.

  4. Well, I didn't have medical procedures in mind, no.

  5. So what on earth did you have in mind?

  6. Rape, murder, that sort of thing. Of course.

  7. Sorry? You're suggesting that people should be raped or murdered at home?

Is that supposed to be funny? Or what?

  8. Well, you are suggesting that women should be violated (let's not get into how abortions are performed - I expect that you already know it) and their children murdered at home.

No, it's not funny at all.

  9. Mostly poor, working-class and/or ethnic minority women and their poor, working-class and/or ethnic minority children. That's why it happens. Above all, that's why the state itself does it.

Dr Steve, is abortion all right if it's carried out because the child is a girl not a boy? If not, why not?

  10. Rape is by definition non-consensual. Abortion is consensual (where it isn't, I oppose it, obviously). In what sense are you using the word "violated"?

  11. Well, it's not consensual for the child, of course.

And how much are women told about what is going to be done to them during the procedure? How many would agree to it if they knew?

Anonymous, very many thanks indeed. This message does at last seem to getting through. In 15 or 20 years' time, if we keep up the pressure, then most people will have come to accept it.

  12. Dr Steve,

What disease or infection does abortion treat?
