After this, is anyone still disputing that the "free" market is utterly anti-conservative, or that the EU and globalisation are but one threat to national self-government (among so much else)?

I agree with you, but the irony is that the ruling frees not Ford, or Chrysler, or Hyundai, but Porsche, another German company, to try to take over Volkswagen. A triumph for globalasation? Perhaps not in this case. It's all a joke really.
