Speaking Without Notes Or A Script

I was going to write "It proves that you have nothing to say", but of course it doesn't necessarily, any more than speaking from notes or a script proves that you do have anything to say.

However, it is easy if you have nothing else to do than a little bit of research followed by memorising a summary of your notes for recitation immediately thereafter. American high school students are taught it as a matter of routine. As are English public schoolboys, and PR men...
