The
Northern Echo reports that Andrew Spence has resigned from the BNP following a drunken punch-up with one of its functionaries. Oh well, then, the BNP is instead just going to have to honour its previous written undertaking to put up either Nick Griffin or Mark Collet here in North-West Durham next time if I stand, but not to bother with this seat otherwise.
Do you think the reason the BNP wants to stand against you, but not against anyone else, is so that it can be certain of not coming last?
ReplyDeleteThat's not what it says. I'll chase up the exact wording of the emails that were forwarded to me, but apparently "the white working class" needs to be given someone other than me to vote for. No one else who might possibly contest this seat poses such a threat, apparently.
ReplyDeleteAt about the same time, a faction of the Ku Klux Klan (the emails were traced to the American Deep South - Virginia, I think) emailed all manner of political figures in this little corner of the forest, copied to all manner of media, urging them to hold firm against "the mulatto Leftist and Romanist, David Lindsay", and to back Hilary Armstrong instead. Clearly, the KKK has no such objection to her. But then, in the three terms cited, why would it have?
(The emails were copied to her office, but her ridiculous office boy and preferred successor initially tried to pretend that it hadn't received them, although I didn't exactly take long to make him back down.)
I've always been very proud of my enemies...
How did you trace them?
ReplyDeletenot this fantasy again. Didn't this story get ripped to shreds last time you told it.
ReplyDeleteNot that I recall. It's the truth. The Far Right knows me, and thoroughly dislikes me, both here and in the US, and no doubt elsewhere as well. High praise, indeed.
ReplyDeleteAnd I didn't trace the KKK emails. The office boy did (he knows about these things, and in those days had the resources of a Cabinet Minister's researcher to play with). He might deny it now, but we were more or less on speaking terms in those days.
As for the BNP ones, they came from the BNP's North East email address. You can't argue with that.
As I've asked you before, David, why do you bother engaging with these pit yakkers? Some of them have degrees, but everyone has a degree these days.
ReplyDeleteThey make their fatuous little points and really do think that they are being clever. You can pretty much see their stupid little smirks and hear their stupid little giggles as you read their stupid little comments.
You're better than that, David! People really in the know know that. Don't waste your efforts on rubbish like the lot who presume to criticise you here.
Among other things, you could bring back the real working class and the real middle class, with their libraries, their bands and orchestras, their poets and painters, and all the rest of it. Nobody else will, because nobody else is even going to try.
And then these dreadful Thatcher's Children (which is what they are, no matter how left-wing they might pretend to be) could just sod off. Go for it! We've been waiting for a politician like you for a generation.
I'm sure 'lord gonome' is David's other personality!
ReplyDeleteStick those emails up, incidentally, and let's see if they are not just a figment of your imagination!
I can assure you that at 1:32am I was safely in the Land of Nod!
ReplyDeleteI DID post the BNP ones, at least, a while back. I'll track them all down if you really want to see them. I must say that you're the only person I've ever known suggest that they didn't really exist. That's right up (or down) there with the office boy's "never rteceived them". As I said to him then, you'll have to do better than that.
They were initially sent to numerous local politicians, all the local media, much of the BBC, half of Fleet Street, and various campaigning organisations, all addresses easily obtained from material that I had been circulating, and which had in fact involved me in debate on every continent except Antarctica. Wonderful thing, this electricity...
And did anyone give a toss?
ReplyDeleteOh, yes...
ReplyDeleteWho?
ReplyDeleteIf you don't know then there's no point telling you and you shouldn't pass comment on matters so far beyond you.
