Douglas Murray: Who He?
Douglas Murray has just been on The Moral Maze again. He also had an article in the Guardian a few days ago. Who is he? He has published a book, Neoconservatism: Why We Need It, which would disgrace a mediocre Sixth Former, and presumably only found its way into print because he is so posh. Apparently, before that, he had published a biography of Lord Alfred Douglas; but, based on allegedly a more mature offering, I certainly shan't be wasting my time tracking it down. Where do the producers of The Moral Maze find these people? I think we should be told.
The Social Affairs Unit, in house publisher to The Henry Jackson Society (Michael Gove, Ed Vaizey, Denis MacShane, Andrew Roberts, et al) which, among other things, wants a single European defence "capability" under overall American command.
ReplyDeleteAdd in the domination of The Moral Maze by Melanie Phillips and it really is becoming Neocons' Big Night Out. Is this the BBC's attempt to keep them sweet?
Douglas Murray declared all out support to Daniel Pipes who proclaimed at the World Civilization Conference in London that Western civilization could only be better off after a total victory over "Barbarism".
ReplyDeleteIf the UK follows US pursuits in Iraq, here is what statistics tell:
It costs USA $8billion/month to fight in Iraq, how much money and lives are needed to fight Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas? If instead the money for Iraq i.e. $2billion/week or $11 million/hour was spent on winning hearts and minds a network of 365 x 24 x 4 years would have seen hospitals, clinics, bridges, schools, colleges and universities built.
So those advocating going out on jingoistic path, escalating the costly conflict, actually serving Britain's real interests?
