The Decent Thing?

"A by-election costs public money. But Edmund Burke was writing before descriptions appeared on ballot papers. Still, if you defected to a party that had fielded a candidate against you when you had most recently been elected, then you probably should resign on principle. But a by-election costs public money." Discuss.

  2. From Peter Hitchens on Twitter today:

Four years ago, @danny__kruger was a loyal Tory and came to a debate in Manchester to tell me I was wrong to despise the 'Conservative' Party. Tory Party was no worse then than it is now. I wonder what changed?

Four years ago Mr Kruger publicly sneered at me for attacking the Tories, whose loyal servant he then was. I was saying, far sooner and more articulately, what he now claims to believe. Timing is all.
