Class Presidents
You really would have thought that the last Presidential Election, which could quite feasibly have been that of a Holy Roman Emperor, would have killed off, once and for all, the myth of “classless” America. But apparently not. As Martin Meenagh points out, all the media’s favourite candidates are the sons or the daughter of privilege, while all those whom the media love to hate have humble backgrounds, apart from Obama, and at least he has paid his dues.
