Fr Dermott Donnelly, born 23 June 1967, died on 8 July 2022; he was 55 years of age.
Fr Dermott was ordained to the priesthood on 27 June 1992.
He has faithfully served the people of our Diocese in the following parishes:

Newcastle: St Mary’s Cathedral, September 2013 – September 2019
Stanley: St Joseph’s, Dipton: St Patrick’s and Byermoor: Sacred Heart, September 2019 – July 2022
Fr Dermott’s body will be received into St Michael’s, Newcastle at 7.00pm on Thursday 28 July and Mass will be celebrated.
The Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 12.05pm on Friday 29 July at St Mary’s Cathedral.

“Due to limited space in the Cathedral, we would encourage those who wish to participate in the Requiem Mass on Friday 29 July to gather at St Michael’s church, Westmorland Road, where the Mass will be live-streamed and Holy Communion will be made available. Following the Requiem Mass, Fr Dermott’s cortège will pass St Michael’s for those who wish to pay their respects.”
