No Sign of Life

What used to be called "social conservatives", and notice that that term itself is now almost never used, are as marginal in the United States as they are in any Western European country, or in Canada, or in Australia, or in New Zealand. They have been so for just as long.

Those of you who voted for Pat Buchanan in 2000, you have already voted for a ticket with a black woman on it. But here are your realistic options in 2020: you do not have any.

The best that you have is a ghoulish hope that Donald Trump might die in office, and then a hope against all experience that, uniquely, Mike Pence might turn out to be any good in office.

There is no absolute moral obligation to vote, and sometimes not voting can be the most powerful thing that you can do.
