Emancipation, Proclamation

Like Barack Obama's father and Donald Trump's mother, both of Kamala Harris's parents were born subjects of the British Empire. If 300 years of slavery on the North American continent, and then 100 years of segregation, run through your veins, then you can never be on the ticket of either main party.

As a woman, you could be Pat Buchanan's running mate in 2000. But despite your people's being one of the oldest in the country, with a far longer presence than many White Ethnic groups one of which provided a President 60 years ago, and despite your people's predominance in much of the South and in major centres elsewhere, neither the Republicans nor the Democrats will have you as a Presidential or a Vice Presidential nominee.

Therefore, like the inhabitants of the Black Wall in Britain, on whose necks the Labour Party has its knee by presenting Keir Starmer as a potential Prime Minister, you ought to make alternative arrangements. Even if, in America as in Britain, that meant just not voting at all. They think that they still own you. Show them that they do not.
