Thankfully it seems more and more historians are overturning the Enlightenment-derived prejudices against Catholicism that had marred history books for a long time. I have noticed this trend in relation to the Galileo and other controversies too. <br /><br />Increasingly the old anti-Catholic canards are being received largely within the realm of popular, non-scholarly "writers" where, sadly, they still have an impact on popular culture. <br /><br />But I would hope people would be skeptical about various cable television specials about the life of Christ, especially when they appear after specials about Bigfoot or UFOs (all more believable, from a scholarly perspective, than claims that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married or whatever the Gnostic weirdos are writing about these days).<br /><br />Sorry to go off topic.Mr. Piccolonoreply@blogger.com
