I think a lot of them are just on here to pollute the threads, as Jon does several times per week. Why don't you just ban him?

Take this article. It is no surprise that they are are deliberately ruining a discussion of the hugely important issues it raises. They tried the same on Yugoslavia over the weekend. Jon tries it on everything.

I loved the way that you told Jon on Harry's Place that he never was as clever as he thought he was. You were at Durham together, right? Based on his comments here, no one in all of history was ever as clever as Jon thinks he is.

But I want to talk about the issues in this article. I want to echo a previous comment:

"Conservative" Catholics who dissent from the Magisterium on economic and peace issues are as bad as "liberal" Catholics who dissent from the Magisterium on bioethical and sexual issues. They are often even worse in practice, because they are allowed to get away with selling themselves as orthodox.

Anyone up for talking about that?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25656996.post-60783660393815014352008-06-25T17:49:00.000+01:002008-06-25T17:49:00.000+01:00Well, joining would a start. But far more come on here (I don't always let the comments up) moaning that they are staunch supporters but blah blah blah.

How come I've never heard anything from you until you want to complain about something on here, then? You clearly have Internet access, so how hard can sending an email be?

My personal favourites (if that is the word) are the "I'm your strongest supporter, so why don't I have a local candidate?" ones. Why do you think? But I get any number of them.David Lindsayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06839882674758833524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25656996.post-79368967195137123602008-06-25T17:44:00.001+01:002008-06-25T17:44:00.001+01:00Urgh, take that image out of my head. The Iraq war is so bad that it is as bad as Jon being a bitch. And that is pretty damn bad.

Alice is an amateur. We Durhamers of a certain vintage know that there could not possibly be a more pompous, over-educated upper middle class person than Jon.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25656996.post-73959838435120259542008-06-25T17:41:00.001+01:002008-06-25T17:41:00.001+01:00factual question - given that as far as I am aware...factual question - given that as far as I am aware, there is no BPA activity beyond this blog, what exactly should wannabe supporters be doing?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25656996.post-82599613700587081432008-06-25T17:41:00.000+01:002008-06-25T17:41:00.000+01:00Anonymous was very wrong to use the term "bitch" i...Anonymous was very wrong to use the term "bitch" in relation to Alice or Rachael, and I only let him because it was at the very end of otherwise a good comment. I shan't be so indulgent in future.

As for whether Jon is a "bitch", however, I had a rather more bog-standard schooling, and so cannot necessarily tell dogs from bitches. But I suspect so, if he's trying to make his way up the Cameron Tory Party.David Lindsayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06839882674758833524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25656996.post-22631224141112353762008-06-25T17:35:00.000+01:002008-06-25T17:35:00.000+01:00Nice supporters you have David. In a thread a ltitle while back, you had a good conversation with people where the clear consensus was a paragraph and a link. Now you're ignoring people. Do you just forget things, or do you ignore what your loyal readers and BPA supporters ask for?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
