Recognition of Reality

Have Canada, Australia and Portugal also recognised Palestine today because Jonathan Ashworth lost his seat and Wes Streeting was on course to go the same way? Will that be why France did so tomorrow? Can you people hear yourselves? And are the Palestinians supposed to be impressed at British recognition? Britain is still arming Israel.

The undeniable ghastliness of Hamas, which the Israelis created to undermine Fatah just as the British had created the Muslim Brotherhood to undermine Arab nationalism in Egypt, pales by comparison with that of the regime in Afghanistan, never mind in our close ally that is Saudi Arabia. There is a British Embassy in Pyongyang, as there is a North Korean Embassy in London. For all its faults, the Palestinian Authority is not Hamas, much less North Korea.
