The return of the politics of sleaze would have been made for Jeremy Corbyn. His worst enemies could not have accused him of being materially greedy, or financially corrupt.
Keir Starmer, by contrast, tried to take a second job with Gina Miller's lawyers while he was Shadow Brexit Secretary.
That Corbyn vetoed that says everything about Corbyn, but he is no longer the Leader of the Opposition. That is now Starmer, and the fact that any such veto was needed says everything about him.
Starmer says it was his own decision not to take the Mishcon de Reya job.
