Prepare To Be Hounded

If the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill had been on the Statute Book in 2002, then the Countryside March would have been illegal under its ban on protests.

And once it has become the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act, then foxhunting will be illegal, and really illegal this time, under its criminalisation of trespass, which no one disputes should be a civil tort.

Anyone who thinks that "they only hunt on their own land" must live in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Let the House of Lords think on.

  1. What if there were another Labour government? How would the Telegraph classes like it to inherit these powers?

    1. It is ever thus with extensions of central government power. Those making them think that they are going to be in office forever.
