Against this rabble, the Queen does not use her power anything like enough. "You needn't bother taking your coat off, Johnson, your P45's behind the clock. See yourself out before I set the dogs on you."
Seriously, though, she has used Queen's consent to cover pretty much everything that might have affected her as anything so much as a resident of the United Kingdom.
Yet look at everything to which she has consented. Everything that has been enacted since 1952 has received, not merely passive Royal Assent, but active Queen's consent. Everything since 1952.
The monarchy keeps sweet a lot of people who need to be kept sweet. But I am entirely at a loss as to why it has that effect of them.
