There are still people who believe that Harold Wilson was a Soviet sleeper agent, no matter how deeply he must therefore have been asleep.
But even they are relatively well-balanced compared to the people who think that in bombing Syria, arming the neo-Nazis in Ukraine, expelling Russian diplomats, tearing up the deal with Iran, sanctioning the Russian economy, and all the rest of it, Donald Trump is an agent of "the Russians".
Sadly, most Conservative MPs either take that view or are simply pro-Trump, while most Labour MPs are in the former camp. Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it.
It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post.
