Sooner King Charles Than King Rupert

There is much on which to disagree with Prince Charles, although he has no power to impose his views, nor will he have any such power as King. But look at the newspaper that is in full cry against him.

It is owned by a man who renounced his Australian citizenship and became an American, who continues to use his vast media interests in his native land to campaign overtly for the abolition of the monarchy there in the service of neoliberalism and neoconservatism, who used his mass circulation titles in the Britain of the 1980s and 1990s to vilify the Royal Family, and who thus did more than anyone else to replace the Queen with Margaret Thatcher in the conduct of public life.

If these are the sides, then I know which one I am on.
